Popped into the kingsheadravenstonedale for some lunch this week… I wandered into the gents and found these 🧐 Nice to know there are still other pubs operating with exactly the same level of professionalism and maturity as us… 🤷‍♂️😂

Myself and head of security, Alfie have been reviewing security arrangements for the pub following a rise in break-ins in the area 🧐 Alfie, who typically works the night shift (and has a bit of a potty mouth if I’m honest), was telling me how much he relishes the thrill of his work. Phrases like ‘fu*k about and find out’ and ‘make my day, punk’ were excitably being muttered by him 😳 I dunno really, he seems pretty excited about the prospect of unwanted guests making some poor life choices sometime soon. Time will tell… 🤷‍♂️

Well… this is awkward 😐 We launched our new August menu yesterday… and then completely forgot to tell anyone. 🙃 So let’s call it a soft launch 🤷‍♂️ New seasonal dishes, plenty of summer flavours, and a few new favourites that we’re quietly rather pleased with. Now Hiring: Professional Finder of Other People’s Mess. We’re looking for a part-time housekeeper to help keep The Royal looking as though 500 people haven’t just been here. If you get a strange sense of satisfaction from straight cushions, sparkling mirrors, spotless bathrooms and leaving a room looking better than you found it… we’d probably like to meet you. Tough day in the office… Had to pop over to the guys at The Milking Parlour Kirkby Lonsdale to “quality control” a few gelato flavours for the pub. Will these supplier meetings EVER end… (hopefully not 😬) It’s a hard life, but someone’s got to make these sacrifices in the name of ‘research’

Get a pub, they said. It’ll be fun! … One minute you’re a high flying hospitality business owner, the next you’re on your hands and knees in the bin yard, scraping shite out the bins before pressure washing them. It’s certainly not the life of champagne and canapés I was promised! 😐 Don’t worry… I’ve had an extra shower today now, so you won’t need to stand too far back if you see me! 🚿😂

It’s July and you’ve already been volunteered to organise the office Christmas party 😬 Our Festive Menu has landed and will be running alongside our full December menu, so there’s plenty of choice for everyone. As a little thank you to whoever draws the short straw, any party of 30 guests or more will receive a £25 Royal food voucher. Officially, it’s a thank you. Unofficially… if your colleagues accuse you of accepting a festive backhander, we’ll deny everything. 🤐 😆 Bookings are now open.

Now we’ve had a couple of complaints about my approach to social media of late.
